Sunflowers Momento by Rosemary Warmington

Features

ARTIST NOTES: Sunflowers Momento is an original painting that shows two bold yellow textured Sunflowers against green foliage in an abstracted vase set against a beautiful soft blue background. The painting makes reference to Memento Mori with italicised words, or ‘ remember that you must die ‘ and shows a skull in the lower right hand corner and an angel in the top left hand corner. It’s a reminder to live life fully. A medium large painting, with texture and mark making on a stretched canvas, ready to hang. If you love Sunflowers you must check this one out.

ARTIST BIO

I am a South Australian painter, born on the River Murray and raised in rural South paints from her beautiful garden studio.   Rosemary Warmington Art Website

Both my semi-abstract landscapes and my abstract paintings are drenched in colour, influenced by the natural world and the Australian light and landscape, in styles that reflect pure abstraction, abstract expressionism and traditional landscape.  Instagram: rosemarywarmingtonart/.

My first public exhibition was ‘The Flinders Revisited’ in 2011 SALA (South Australian Living Artists Festival), a selection of paintings that reflected the ancient Flinders Ranges. I have exhibited consistently since then and my work was featured in the Art Edit Magazine (Spring 2019). It was in 2018 that I completed  training through the international Art to Life – Creative Visionary Program(USA)in 2019.

I was a finalist in the WestTorrens Art Prize (2020) and the Gallery M Contemporary Art prize (2022).

With tertiary qualifications in both social work and business, i was for many years a CEO of a not for profit organisation that provided services to family carers. In 2012 I was awarded a Member of the Order of Australia (AM) and in 2017 I retired from full-time employment to paint more.

"I paint my landscapes using rich colour blends to portray and reflect the natural world to evoke a mood and sense of place.

I  use colour, line and texture in my abstract designs  to create a rich modern art piece.  "
