Abstract painting is my hobby, which has evolved from a love of drawing. I would draw a variety of subjects and objects when in Primary School. As I got older, I learnt about geometry, which I found easy to understand. This interest resulted in Technical Drawing and Art being my elective subjects in High School.
Angles, shapes, 3D, perspective were some of the aspects I really enjoyed. In my final year in High School my appetite for completing the set program of drawings, led me to ask for extra drawings tasks to complete. Subsequently I achieved the highest grade in the class.
My working life started as a Road Designer in which a lot of drawing and calculations was carried out.
Over the years I developed other aspects of roads and transport infrastructure delivery with drawing being replaced with drafting programs. On retirement from full time work I started painting again – something I had not done since school.
I have been painting now for 4 years and am based at Glenelg North, SA. I use mainly acrylic on canvas and I am self-taught by observing painting techniques on YouTube.
My favorite painting style is abstract and I have also experimented with various types of pour painting. My interest in geometrical shapes has carried on to present day.
